Chinese tea has always been a beloved beverage, and it holds a special place in Chinese etiquette and social gatherings. Recognizing the importance of tea in fostering relationships, Feng Jian set out to create a space that would evoke the wonderful feelings of a traditional Chinese tea party. The result is Xiangzishen Teahouse, an indoor oasis that transports visitors to a world of tranquility and beauty.
What sets Xiangzishen Teahouse apart is its unique incorporation of Chinese garden design principles. Just like in a Chinese garden, the tearoom's layout allows visitors to experience the beauty of the space from different perspectives. The use of woodwork and Chinese red, combined with the skillful application of Chinese design techniques, creates an atmosphere that exudes Oriental temperament and charm.
The interior of Xiangzishen Teahouse is adorned with marble, texture paint, elm, and Changhong glass, carefully selected to enhance the overall aesthetic. The project covers an area of 500 square meters and features a two-story frame structure, with a display store and a tea house. The attention to detail in the choice of materials and the execution of the design is evident in every corner of the space.
Feng Jian and his team, including Mi Shuxiang, QinQiang, ZhangLin, Wang Baodong, Hu Jinling, and Fang Xianping, worked tirelessly to bring Xiangzishen Teahouse to life. The project was launched in Jinan, China in September 2020 and was completed in March 2021. It officially opened its doors to the public in April 2021, inviting tea enthusiasts to indulge in a truly unique and captivating tea-drinking experience.
One of the challenges faced during the design process was the control of the texture paint's size and its impact on the overall visual experience. Through meticulous experimentation, Feng Jian determined that 18 fluctuation points per centimeter achieved the desired effect in the 500 square meter space, ensuring a visually pleasing and harmonious environment.
Xiangzishen Teahouse is not only a feast for the eyes but also a celebration of Chinese tea culture. The use of Oriental Chinese red and the incorporation of landscape painting themes reflect the transmission of ancient Chinese context and intention. The vibrant greens throughout the space pay homage to the natural color of tea, creating a harmonious and inviting atmosphere for tea lovers and friends to gather and enjoy the wonders of tea.
Feng Jian's design for Xiangzishen Teahouse is a testament to his creativity, attention to detail, and deep understanding of Chinese culture. This remarkable tearoom has been recognized for its excellence and innovation, receiving the prestigious Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2022. This award acknowledges the tearoom's well-designed, practical, and innovative features, as well as its contribution to creating a better world through its fulfillment and positive ambiance.
